Dr. med. Sylvia Mallison

Specialist in orthopaedics and trauma surgery Senior physician for foot and ankle surgery, Krankenhaus Tabea, Hamburg

Dr. med. Sylvia Mallison reviews the Fifty Five Journal articles on vitamin D3 and K2 for content and medical accuracy.

Her everyday work happens where medicine gets concrete: in the operating room and in consultations, with people who want to stand firmly on their own two feet again. As senior physician for foot and ankle surgery at Krankenhaus Tabea in Hamburg, she deals with bones and joints every day. That is exactly what the articles on vitamin D3 and K2 are about, and exactly why she reviews them.

Her path led from Lübeck, where she studied and obtained her licence to practise medicine, via Elbeklinikum Stade to the foot surgery department of Klinik Dr. Guth. There she specialised and was most recently a senior physician, before working as a specialist at MVZ Elbe-West. Since September 2026 she has been part of the team at Krankenhaus Tabea.

For her, medicine does not end at the hospital door: in 2017 she went to Mosul with Doctors Without Borders, where care is needed most. She earned her doctorate in 2019 with a thesis on pressure ulcer prevention, that is, how to prevent bedsores in bedridden patients.
